oh, mother

my mom got into bangkok on monday midnight, and only several hours later, i got a call from my brother letting me know my dad had a heart attack from a blood clot. i feel grateful that he didn't have a heart attack on his scheduled flight to bangkok (on tues) but it's something that i never thought would happen, especially because my dad thinks he's invincible and i kind of thought so, too. i'm glad he's ok now.

on a lighter note, i'm realizing many ways in which my mom and my roommate, lexie, are similar. we went out to eat at this oishi buffet place since my mom loves sushi and as we're sitting down and eating, i notice that my mom is using these LOOOONG chopsticks (like over a foot long) that are obviously not the chopsticks that they've provided for us but was of course oblivious to anything unusual. i was like, "mom, you stole the serving chopsticks from the buffet table!" and then embarassingly confessed, "only my mom." and then lexie looked down and realized that she too had taken the LOOOOONG serving chopsticks to eat with. and then a waitress tracked us down to retrieve them. maybe i'm the weird one.
