seminary ads

currently, i have no future plans (or desire) to go to seminary. and while flipping through a christian mag this past week, these seminary ads failed to win me over. honestly, i'm a little perplexed to know what sort of person they are trying to appeal to.
disclaimer: these are fine seminaries and i know people who have gone to both schools. nothing against you gordon-conwell or dallas....to kill you!
so, is this little phrase trying to attract lumberjacks or serial killers to go to seminary?
2 beefs: 1. i haven't ever thought of owning an axe or comparing anything of mine to an axe and 2. i didn't know it needed sharpening.

oh, but this killed me:
i am assuming that this ad is trying to target actors or other creative professionals. however, i have a little trouble seeing how this shot of this prof as "marley" would invoke any sort of attraction, unless you were strangely into andrew lloyd webber's "cats" performed by mentally unstable hobos.
eeeh, that creeps me out.

Eeeh indeed. I am not sure which ad is scarier. I must say, though, I'd pay to see Cats performed by mentally unstable hobos. It would be like the "Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me)" Tom Waits version...

And I think I owe you and Lexie emails.

From the Ebonics Bible:

"Ax, and y'all finna receive."
